A Shallow Gas Research Program

Abstract: Operational problems associated with the occurence of shallow gas in offshore drilling led Statoil to initiate a massive research program. The program consisted of the following subprojects: Revised drilling procedures, shallow gas drainage, multistage cementing, gas tight cement, diverter systems, rig ventilation systems and emergency anchor release.
