A set of efficient semaphoring instructions

Abstract: A set of instructions is described which facilitates the construction of an operating system implemented as a set of cooperating processes. An unusual feature of the instructions is that they are 'hybrid' -- i.e. they may either operate as conventional machine instructions or give rise to a supervisor - call interrupt, depending on circumstances.
