The results of the study of the fodder preparation quality by the combined feeding unit that provides simultaneous grinding and mixing the components with the following dosed distribution to the cattle are given. The method of assessing uniformity of feed mixing for the distribution of moisture was tested. Hypothesis of the method for assessing uniformity of fodder mixtures and without making any selection control component is based on the redistribution of moisture feed components to each other in the process of mixing. The production tested method of assessing of the mixture quality was conducted during the preparation of feed for cattle by a mobile fodder preparation combined unit, which provided simultaneous grinding and mixing of the components with the following dosed distribution of them into the troughs or on the feed tables. Dosage of the starting components, when loading them into the hopper, was performed by using of the weighted mobile fodder preparation combined unit. Moisture content of feed ingredients and feed mixtures was determined by the moisture tester VLK-01, a grain moisture tester also can be used (similar Wile-55, Finland). Indicators of the evaluation of the mixing quality according to the method of moisture distribution were compared with the results of no uniformity mixing, defined by the standard method, which involves the addition of a control component (sugar beet seeds) in the amount of 1 % relative to the weight of the feed mixture. After downloading of the latest component into the feed hopper unit, the minimum acceptable requirements of livestock uniform mixing (85 %) is provided by stirring for 6-8 minutes. Indicators of the assessment of mixing by the method of moisture distribution and control component practically coincided during the time of feed processing.

In Russia, in 2010 a food security Doctrine was adopted, according to which "food security of the Russian Federation is one of the main directions of ensuring national security of the country". Today the only point of Doctrine, according to which food security is not provided, is milk and dairy products. Our production covers about 65-70 % needs, 10 % below the target. Very important is also the loss of milk during its production. With an annual milk production of about 30 million tones of milk the production does not exceed 65 % and in private farms-34 %. The relevance of the research problem is due to the lack of domestic equipment for high efficiency cleanup of milk directly on the sites of production. The purpose of this article is to describe the key sources and causes of quality loss of milk. The developments of scientists of the Stavropol Agrarian University for a two-stage cleaning of the milk in terms of dairy farms and complexes are given. Production testing of prototypes of these devices have confirmed their effectiveness. A distinctive feature of the developed filter is the pretreatment of milk from large mechanical inclusions in the collection of them in the sump tank and its fine purification by means of filtration, when passing through the filter element. The filter design is protected by the patent. Production test of the filter showed that it provides the cleaning efficiency of milk from mechanical impurities up to a level sufficient to obtain products of the first group of purity according to the requirements of GOST, The article will be useful to scientists and engineers involved in the development of equipment for primary processing of milk on farms and complexes, as well as dairy plants.

As potable water scarcity increases across the globe; it is imperative to identify energy and cost-effective processes for producing drinking-water from non-traditional sources. One established method is desalination of brackish and seawater via reverse osmosis (RO). However, the buildup of microorganisms at the water-membrane interface, known as biofouling, clogs RO membranes over time, increasing energy requirements and cost. To investigate biofouling mitigation methods, studies tend to focus on single-species biofilms; choice of organism is crucial to producing useful results. To determine a best-practice organism for studying antimicrobial treatment of biofilms, with specific interest in biofouling of RO membranes, we answered the following two questions, each via its own semi-systematic review: 1. Which organisms are commonly used to test antimicrobial efficacy against biofilms on RO membranes? 2. Which organisms are commonly identified via genetic analysis in biofilms on RO membranes? We then critically review the results of two semi-systematic reviews to identify pioneer organisms from the listed species. We focus on pioneer organisms because they initiate biofilm formation, therefore, inhibiting these organisms specifically may limit biofilm formation in the first place. Based on the analysis of the results, we recommend utilizing Pseudomonas aeruginosa for future single-species studies focused on biofilm treatment including, but not limited to, biofouling of RO membranes.
