A sensitive, high‐throughput, and ecofriendly method for the determination of lumefantrine, artemether, and its active metabolite dihydroartemisinin by supercritical fluid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry

Abstract: A quick and sensitive supercritical fluid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method for the simultaneous determination of lumefantrine, artemether, and its active metabolite dihydroartemisinin in rat plasma was developed and validated. The chromatographic separation was performed on an ACQUITY UPC ™ BEH 2-EP column within 2.5 min by gradient elution using compressed CO and methanol containing 2 mM ammonium acetate as the mobile phases. Detection was achieved by multiple reaction monitoring using elec… Show more

“…Therefore, quantification of DHA in human plasma is a good alternative to demonstrate the concentration of artemether in systemic circulation. A number of analytical methods have been reported for the quantification of artemether and its metabolite DHA ( Hodel et al, 2009 ; Huang et al, 2009 ; Yang et al, 2018 ). These studies mainly involve determination of artemether only using the tandem mass spectrometer.…”
