A self‐triggered scheme for cyber‐physical systems under denial‐of‐service attacks

Abstract: A security issue in the stability analysis problem is investigated for cyber‐physical systems (CPSs) in this paper. A stability guaranteed self‐triggered scheme is proposed to actively defend the denial‐of‐service (DoS) attacks and reduce unnecessary data communications in delta domain. In the self‐triggered scheme, a predictive agent is designed, in which the stability of the CPS is considered. A transmit instant is confirmed based on the packets dropout caused by the DoS attacks and the time‐varying delays i… Show more

“…The state estimation error and the residual are defined as e i (k) = (k) −̂i(k) and r i (k) = s (k) − îi (k). The ith error dynamic system can be obtained by subtracting (23) from (22), and when the ith subsystem has no sensor attack occurs, that is when f si (k) ≡ 0, the error dynamic system is…”

“…However, in practice, the security of communication network can hardly be guaranteed. Some potential attacks [17][18][19] might damage the communication channels, which leads to information exchange failure. The existence of networked attacks might affect the ability of distributed algorithms to find the optimal solution.…”

“…In previous studies [15][16][17], a Kalman filtering problem is studied for nonlinear system with sensor saturation and randomly occurring false data injection attack. In Geng and Liu [18], a stability guaranteed self-triggered scheme is proposed to actively defend the denial of service (Dos) attacks. Furthermore, a sufficient condition in view of linear matrix inequalities is derived for stability of the CPS under Dos attack.…”
