Abstract:The primary goal of prodrug is to provide an effective and desired concentration of a parent drug at the target organ. This goal is usually achieved by improved absorption, but ideally this must occur without accompanying toxicity. For this aim, various alkyl and amino acid esters of nucleosides have been synthesized to inhibit metabolism and improve oral bioavailability.
