A seismic emergency performance optimization model for infrastructure systems under demand differences: A case study in China

Abstract: Infrastructure systems play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of cities and the well‐being of residents after earthquakes. Meanwhile, infrastructure systems are vulnerable to earthquakes and may fail to provide necessary services, highlighting the significant need to improve seismic emergency performance. Nevertheless, the seismic emergency performance of infrastructure systems still lacks effective enhancement strategies and optimization models, which makes it challenging to devise and benchmark appropria… Show more

“…where k i max and k i min are preset adjustable maximum stiffness and minimum stiffness, respectively. In Equation (7), the variable stiffness range of SASD, and control effects of different numbers of SASD implemented along the height of the building will be discussed and compared in Section 4.…”

“…The schematic diagram of the enhanced earthquake protection smart structure with an SASD on the first story and an STMD on the top story is shown in Figure 5. In Figure 5, the SASD can vary its stiffness in real-time according to Equations ( 5)- (7); the STMD can retune its stiffness based on the displacement signal of the top story according to the WT-based algorithm, and switch its damping coefficient according to Equation (2). The combined control strategy of the smart structure with SASD and STMD is illustrated in Figure 6.…”
