A scanning microphotometer with an on‐line data reduction for large field Schmidt plates

The on-line d a t a compression is pcrformed in t h c domain of t h e H A A R transform of thc mcasurcment points. This method provides a fast treatment of t h e measurement d a t a in the computer and changes t h e large d a t a material sampled in equidistant stcps wliosc width can bc chosen b y t h c seein… Show more

“…The plates were scanned with the microdensitometer and processed with the programm system of the Sternwarte Babelsberg of the Central Institute for Astrophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR (FRITZE et al (1977), RICHTER (1 978)). Because there are no calibration wedges or sensitometer points on the plates, the photographic density cannot be converted to an intensity.…”

“…The examinations of archival plates in some observatories (SCHAEFER (1981), HUDEC et al (1984), SCHOLZ (1984), ATTEIA et al (1985), GREINER, FLOHRER (1985), HUDEC et al (1986)) have yielded several possible candidates, but the findings are not compelling yet. Particularly, there is no case of a second simultaneous exposure demonstrating the reality of the flash.…”

“…The corresponding informations are given in Table 2. The investigated Geld was scanned with the microphotometer and reduced with the software system described in the above mentioned papers (FRITZE et al 1977. The size of the scanning diaphragm was 40 pm = 2 arc sec, the step width 20 pm.…”
