The Alternative Learning System (ALS) has been found to be the new way for those who want to continue in their studies despite the challenges and current situation they are facing. Apparently however, there are studies recorded that there is a gap between the 21st-century skills of these ALS learners. With this concern, it becomes the notion of the researcher to describe and assess the 21st-century skills acquisition of enrolled Alternative Learning System Senior High School (ALS SHS) learners in one stand-alone public senior high school in the City of Meycauayan, Bulacan, for the School Year 2022-2023. The researcher made use of quantitative descriptive survey design to assess the 21st-century skills of 41 ALS SHS learners enrolled. Findings revealed that most of the respondents were female; in the age-range of 20-24 years old; and, have a monthly income of less than Php 5,000.00 a month. Alternative Learning System Senior High School (ALS SHS) learners had a moderate level of 21st-century skills acquisition. Furthermore, it showed that there is no significant difference on the 21st-century skills acquisition of ALS SHS learners when group according to gender and age-range, but there is a significant difference on the 21st-century skills acquisition of ALS SHS learners when group according to their socio-economic status (monthly income). For its recommendation, the proposed capacity building program aimed to improve further the Alternative Learning System Senior High School (ALS SHS) learners’ 21st-century learning skills and to jive on the current trends and challenges of 21st-century education despite of their struggles in life.

Innovation skills such as creativity, empathy, experimentation, communication and collaboration are vital for the 21st century learners. Hence, this study determined the effectiveness of design thinking-based learning packet in enhancing the innovation skills of grade 11 learners. Descriptive statistics and t-test were utilized to look at associations between the pretest–posttest and survey questionnaire. The pretest and posttest results measured the effectiveness of the learning packet in enhancing the innovation skills of the learners, whereas the survey results were utilized to describe the students’ innovation skills. A content validation tool from the Department of Education was utilized to determine the level of acceptability of the learning packet before its usage. The findings indicated that the level of acceptability of the learning packet was very high which implies that the experts recommend its use. The survey results showed that students’ innovation skill is high while the pretest and post-test showed a significant difference in all terms. The findings suggest the use of design thinking-based learning packet as a supplemental learning material in teaching Physical Science to enhance the innovation skills of learners.

This study aims to examine the communication and collaboration attitudes of secondary school students according to some variables and to determine if there is a relationship between students' communication and collaboration attitudes. The survey model was used in the study, and the sample consists of 405 secondary school students studying in Salihli, Manisa. “Secondary school students’ communication attitude scale (SSSCAS)” and “Scale for Self-Evaluation of Collaboration Skills (SSCS)” were used to collect data. According to analysis results of the data obtained, it was found out that the communication and collaboration attitudes of the secondary school students were at a high level and did not show statistically significant differences in terms of gender and educational status of the parents. On the other hand, there was a significant difference according to owning tablet/PC variable. Besides, there is a positive relationship between secondary school students' communication skills attitude and collaboration attitudes.
