A Scalable and Semantic Data as a Service Marketplace for Enhancing Cloud-Based Applications

Abstract: Data handling and provisioning play a dominant role in the structure of modern cloud–fog-based architectures. Without a strict, fast, and deterministic method of exchanging data we cannot be sure about the performance and efficiency of transactions and applications. In the present work we propose an architecture for a Data as a Service (DaaS) Marketplace, hosted exclusively in a cloud environment. The architecture includes a storage management engine that ensures the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, a mo… Show more

“…External experts can provide valuable insights, best practices, and assistance in overcoming specific challenges related to BI implementation in the era of Big Data. Invest in scalable infrastructure, such as cloud-based solutions, to accommodate the growing volume of Big Data (Psomakelis et al,2020). Scalability ensures that the BI system can handle increasing data loads without compromising performance.…”

“…In software engineering, Meyer (2001) proposed software as a product and a service. Sidi et al (2012) and Huang et al (2015) viewed data as a product, whereas Psomakelis et al (2020) viewed data as a service. Whether they are a product or a service, in this paper, a product is defined as a broader concept, including physical and digital products/services/data regardless of their attributes.…”

“…However, to achieve efficient collaboration and benefit from AI-based technology, a new integrative environment is needed. The EU-funded DataPorts project will design an industrial data platform [35]. The Cognitive Ports Data Platform will connect existing digital infrastructures of seaports and their systems, establish rules for secure and reliable data exchange and trade, and provide powerful data analysis services.…”
