A SCADA oriented middleware for RFID technology

Abstract: Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) has emerged as the new technology paradigm for acquisition and information management. RFID can be used to improve significantly the efficiency of business processes by providing the capability of automatic identification and data capture. This technology introduces new challenges on data and process information management in current systems. RFID data are timedependent and dynamically changing. In addition, data carry implicit semantics. The homogeneous data processing of… Show more

“…A typical RFID system consists of three components: an antenna, RFID tags, and a RF reader. This technology is widely used in many applications including manufacturing and distribution of products (Cardiel et al, 2012;Lin and Ho, 2009a), Businessto-Business (B2B) logistics, Business-to-Consumer (B2C) marketing and after-sales service (Curtin et al, 2007).…”

“…Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a common design pattern used in modern enterprise systems to support interactions between distributed components (Al-jaroodi & Mohamed, 2012;Cardiel, Gil, Somolinos, & Somolinos, 2012;Gligor & Turc, 2012). SOA provides a technology agnostic means of exposing system functionality as autonomous services, which may be consumed by distributed components.…”

“…The contribution of this work is the combination of optimization algorithms with multi-agent system while integrating RFID technology in logistic field. The RFID technology is used in many applications including manufacturing and distribution of products [2][3], Business-to-Business (B2B) logistics, Business-to-consumer (B2C) marketing and aftersales service [4]. Due to globalization, logistics has become a strategic factor in creating competitive advantage in supply chains [1].…”
