A robust M2M Gateway for effective integration of capillary and 3GPP networks

Abstract: Machine to Machine (M2M) communication has gained much momentum in the recent past, both within academia and across different industries. Many of the M2M applications are required to send data to the M2M server connected directly or indirectly to the communication network such as 3GPP network. This requires connecting millions of M2M devices, apart from usual mobile devices, to the 3GPP network. However, this imposes a major deployment and management challenge, since the network was originally not designed to … Show more

“…Moreover, it also addressed the issues on quality of service, energy efficiency and security in M2M communications. Reference provided a novel M2M architecture to allow non‐3GPP devices to communicate with M2M servers over 3GPP networks through a robust M2M gateway for effective integration of non‐3GPP devices with 3GPP networks. On the other hand, to support cellular‐based M2M networks, concentrated on more efficient capillary M2M and proposed a communication stack based on the latest IEEE and IETF protocols to meet stringent requirements.…”

“…Finally, conclusions and future lines of research are drawn in Section IV. Various network architectures have been proposed to integrate machines into the LTE system and fulfill their requirements [4] [7]. The proper architecture should be chosen for each application according to service requirements and machine constraints.…”
