A robust content-based JPWL transmission over a realistic MIMO channel under perceptual constraints

Abstract: This paper proposes a global approach of JPWL (ISO/IEC 15444-11) image transmission over a realistic wireless channel able to ensure the best Quality of Service (QoS). In order to exploit the channel diversity, we consider a ClosedLoop MIMO-OFDM scheme with different precoder designs. In particular, the high flexibility of QoS precoder allows taking into account the scalability of JPWL jointly with the instantaneous MIMO channel status. This increases the visual quality of received images. The monitoring of th… Show more

“…The reconstructed video quality significantly outperforms PT-MIMO [1]. Based on this work, many other UEP schemes [7,8] have been proposed. Nevertheless, all of these works assume that the channel bandwidth and video bit-rates are consistent, and also do not consider channel coding in transmission.…”

“…In fact, the transmission of hierarchical bitstream can be exploited in MIMO transmission context, using a Closed-Loop (CL) scheme. This idea has been a focus of active research over the past few years [10], [11], [12], [13]. Recently, Abot et al [11] proposed a JSC solution optimized for wireless image transmission over a MIMO channel.…”

“…In [12], the authors presented an UPA scheme for progressive JPEG transmission over MIMO systems employing spatial multiplexing. In [13], the authors proposed a novel scheme for JPWL transmission over MIMO channel to increase the visual quality of the received images. The proposed scheme is based on precoding solutions to provide the power allocation on different sub-channels.…”
