Untuk pertama kalinya, Indonesia memegang Presidensi G20, sebuah forum kerja sama yang terdiri dari 20 ekonomi utama dunia. Kepresidenan Indonesia berlangsung selama satu tahun, mulai 1 Desember 2021 hingga 30 November 2022. G20 adalah forum internasional yang berfokus pada koordinasi kebijakan di bidang ekonomi dan pembangunan. Ini mewakili kekuatan ekonomi dan politik dunia, sebuah prestasi yang membanggakan. Sebagai sebuah perhelatan akbar, maka di dalam negeri sendiri, pemerintah merasa perlu untuk mengkampanyekan kegiatan ini secara masif dan terus menerus, dan melibatkan berbagai pihak yang ada. Salah satunya adalah dengan melibatkan Maudy Ayunda sebagai salah satu juru bicara presidensi G20. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan retorika Maudy Ayunda sebagai juru bicara Presidensi G20 dari berbagai pidato yang disampaikannya. Teori retorika selama ini memiliki beberapa asumsi bahwa keberhasilan retorika sangatlah bergantung pada kemampuan seorang pembicara. Kesuksesan menyampaikan pidato ini pun tak lepas dari materi teks pidato maupun kemampuan public speaking pembawa pesan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis retorika Camper, yang menganalisis dari sisi Ambiguity, Definition, Letter versus spirit, Conflicting, Assimilation dan Jurisdiction. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pidato kedua dan keenam Maudy memiliki semua unsur dari enam analisis retorika Camper, sedangkan pidato yang lainnya hanya beberapa elemen saja. Maudy Ayunda memiliki kekuatan pada gaya penyampaian baik secara verbal maupun non-verbal.

This study intended to analyze Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s presidential inaugural speech as the first female president in African to see how she persuaded and convinced the people of Liberia on political, social and economic policies in an effort to make them believe in her content to consolidate power. Specifically, this study focused on rhetorical and persuasive strategies she applied in her speech. To achieve the intended goals, rhetorical discourse analysis methodology was used, and Ellen’s textual inaugural presidential speech was quantitatively analyzed by both Neo-Aristotelian and feminist methods of rhetorical analysis to discover, identify and describe how Ellen used rhetorical devices, rhetorical appeals and other rhetorical tactics. Results indicate that various rhetorical tactics were found in her speech, and were well applied which helped her to effectively accomplish her intended objectives as an orator.
