Abstract: This paper reviews all species within the scale insect subfamily Ceroplastinae (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccoidea:Coccidae) known from the Afrotropical Region (here including the whole of Africa, the Atlantic islands of Azores,Madeira, Canary Is., São Tomé, Principe, and Cape Verde Is., and the Indian Ocean islands of Madagascar, Seychelles,Mauritius, Réunion, Comoros, and Aldabra). “…The Ceroplastinae included ten genera in the past (Hodgson & Peronti, 2012), many of which were synonymized with Ceroplastes mainly by Lindinger (1937) and Qin & Gullan (1995). Among these synonyms, Waxiella De Lotto was revived as a valid genus by Hodgson & Peronti (2012) because of a difference in the distribution of stigmatic setae from Ceroplastes. Consequently, the Ceroplastinae comprises about 114 species in Ceroplastes and nine species in Waxiella (as listed in ScaleNet; García Morales et al, 2019).…”
