A review on the effect of light–thermal–humidity environment in sow houses on sow reproduction and welfare

Abstract: The environment in sow houses is the key to restrict sow production due to its significant effect on sow growth and reproduction. In this article, the effect of light, thermal and light–thermal–humidity environment in sow houses is systematically reviewed for sow reproduction and welfare according to the existing literature. The results show the optimal ambient temperature range for sows is approximately 16–22°C, as well as the lowest and highest critical temperature are 16 and 27°C respectively. Meanwhile, th… Show more

“…Strategy 2: Dung beetle with ovoid ball (rood ball) In nature, dung beetles roll dung balls to a safe place to hide them for female dung beetles to lay their eggs in a suitable environment. The spawning area of the female dung beetle is modeled in the algorithm, resulting in the calculation of Equations ( 6) and (7).…”

“…Temperature and humidity, along with concentrations of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, are the primary environmental factors influencing the growth and health of pigs in pig houses [ 3 , 4 ]. Accurate prediction of environmental factors is not only essential for animal growth and development [ 5 ] but also a cornerstone for intelligent and automated livestock management [ 6 , 7 , 8 ]. Effective environmental control can reduce resource wastage, optimize production costs, improve livestock health and productivity, and thus promote sustainable agriculture [ 9 ].…”
