A Review on Self Compacting Concrete with Cementitious Materials and Fibers

Abstract: Self-compacted concrete (SCC) is cast in the formwork without compaction and it fulfills the formwork due to its own weight. SCC is considered to have many advantages in comparison with conventional concrete like improved construction quality, faster construction activity, reduced cost etc. SCC is produced with the same ingredients of normal concrete. However, cementitious materials are also adopted to replace the cement content in SCC in order to use waste materials from industries and agricultural products. … Show more

“…Two concrete mixes were prepared by using manufactured sand, the TC and the HPGFRC having a strength class of 60MPa. TC was prepared by using the standard mix design method [1], while HPGFRC was prepared considering [16,17], increasing powder content, and reducing coarse aggregate as described in [18][19][20]. The detailed steps for mixing are described in [21,22].…”

“…Self-Compacted Concrete (SCC) is a kind of concrete that is cast without being compacted and fills the formwork with its own weight. SCC provides some advantages in comparison with traditional concrete, including enhanced building quality, quicker construction activity, lower costs, increased in-situ concrete quality under challenging casting loads, decreased accidents, noise and vibrations, while it assists in the attainment of higher surface quality [1]. One of the drawbacks of SCC is its large cost, which is due to the usage of large amounts of Portland Cement (PC) and chemical additives.…”

“…Concrete is most widely used construction material. It is a mixture of cement, fine aggregates, coarse aggregates and water [2]. As the utilization of concrete and its constituent elements is on the rise throughout the world, it has increased the utilization of natural resources, especially aggregates in concrete, which forms the major part of the concrete.…”
