a native traditional plant commonly known as Indian Mallow, is a versatile plant species that brings enormous amounts of medicinal uses from the history of traditional culture. This review emphasizes the current body of knowledge surrounding the effects of , highlighting its potential therapeutic application. The plant is well renowned for its diverse phytochemical composition, including alkaloids, flavonoids, and polysaccharides, which contribute to its wide-ranging biological activity. It has been discovered through research that Abutilon indicum extracts possess noteworthy pharmacological effects, including anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-diabetic, and hepatoprotective properties. In addition to its immunomodulatory effects, larvicidal, anti-convulsant, neuroprotective, and cognitive-enhancing capacities have gained attention in recent years and serve as natural alternatives to available allopathic medicine.The focus of the review revolves around various noteworthy pharmacological effects of , including its anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-oxidant, and anti-convulsant properties. Furthermore, the examination of the plant extracts' phytochemical composition is also emphasized.Those activities were discussed and reported with standard methods and compared with the available standard drugs. Overall, this comprehensive review provides valuable insights into the pharmacological effects of , underscoring its potential as a source of novel therapeutic agents and paving the way for future research and development.

Sri Lanka endowed a rich biodiversity, making it a significant source of plant species used as food sources. Fruits serving as both desserts and refreshments. Major and minor fruits contribute vitamins to the Sri Lankan diet, but underutilized fruit crops, lacking developed cultivation protocols and commercial production, remained as unexplored resources. Soursop (Annona muricata), Lavalu (Pouteria campechiana), Madam (Syzigium cumini), Nam-nan (Cynometra cauliflora), Mangosteen (Garcinia mangosteen), Beli (Aegle marmelos), Kamarankha (Averrhoa carambola), Jambu (Syzygium jambos), Sapodilla (Achras sapata), Veralu (Elaeocarpus serratus) are some underutilized fruit crops available in Sri Lanka. This review article highlights the nutritional, medicinal, and value-added potential of selected minor fruits in Sri Lanka.

Ethnomedicinal and Ethnobotanical Investigations and Documentation of Plants Used by Traditional Healers of Eastern India

Introduction: This study is an effort to document extensively and systematically the ethnobotanical and ethnomedicinal knowledge in the four districts (Puri, Cuttack, Bhadrak, and Mayurbhanj) of Odisha in Eastern India. It provides new insights into the rich ethnomedicinal knowledge and plants biodiversity in these four districts. Methods: The method of convenience sampling was conducted to get the ethnobotanical and ethnomedicinal knowledge of the healers. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the information got was quantified and documented with the aid of various databases. Eleven traditional healers endowed information on their traditional medicinal knowledge. 74 plant species belonging to 44 botanical families are documented and among these 44 botanical families, five (Rutaceae, Malvaceae, Astaraceae, Annonaceae, and Euphorbiaceae) are mostly used by the healers. The healers mainly use leaves and roots in the medicine's preparation. Results: Twenty-five ailments are treated by these traditional healers, which are majorly dominated by dermatological treatments. The pharmacological mining of these 74 plants revealed that a few pharmacological and biological activities of each medicinal plant have been studied. Our study revealed that these four districts of Odisha have a rich biodiversity of medicinal plants. Conclusion: Promoting the plantation of some of these species can enhance the income of the traditional healers of these districts and simultaneously make the exploitation of these plant species sustainable. We also found that the pharmacological and biological activities of many plant species are yet to be explored.
