A review on information systems engineering using vsat networks and their development directions

Abstract: Modern satellite VSAT networks can be applied not only to provide satellite radio and television broadcasting, but also to other domains, such as a two-way Internet access. For this objective it has become necessary to develop appropriate standards and data transmission techniques. An unquestionable advantage of satellite systems is reception range, which translates into possibility of building networks in almost any place on Earth. Depending on the application, such networks can use many top… Show more

“…As part of this strategy, plans to install Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) at PMH and primary health clinics on the eight outer islands were made. VSAT are two-way ground stations with a dish antenna used to transmit and receive digitized data over a satellite communication network (Fig 2) [27,30,31].…”

“…The unanimous approval by WHO Member States of the ’Resolution on Digital Health’ [ 7 ] at the 2018 World Health Assembly and the Regional Committee for the Western Pacific’s endorsement of the Regional Action Agenda on Harnessing e-Health for Improved Health Service Delivery [ 8 ] demonstrates a recognition of the value digital technology offers health service development and the commitment of decision-makers to exploring its use. There are many examples of the use of ICT to support health care delivery in low- and middle-income settings including for delivery of telemedicine [ 9 11 ], targeted patient communication [ 12 15 ], supply chain management [ 16 , 17 ], workforce training [ 18 20 ], clinical decision-making support, [ 21 , 22 ] data collection and management [ 16 , 18 , 19 , 23 , 24 ], and healthcare workers-to-healthcare worker communication and data exchange [ 25 27 ] including during disaster situations [ 28 ].…”

“…A smart system useful for fire detection and control of the acoustic fire extinguisher is presented, e.g., [2]- [7]. Robotic platforms can be used for this purpose, which in practice have a wide variety of applications [8]- [13], including techniques for transmitting information from remote locations [14]- [21]. Preventive measures may be key in this regard, including carrying out assessments of the resilience of cities to natural disasters using appropriately selected system dynamics tools [22]- [26].…”
