A review on drones controlled in real-time

Abstract: This paper presents related literature review on drones or unmanned aerial vehicles that are controlled in real-time. Systems in real-time control create more deterministic response such that tasks are guaranteed to be completed within a specified time. This system characteristic is very much desirable for drones that are now required to perform more sophisticated tasks. The reviewed materials presented were chosen to highlight drones that are controlled in real time, and to include technologies used in differ… Show more

“…Our model has a rather short distance between the two chosen laboratories involved. At larger distances, more time is needed for the drone flight than we used, which may affect the total response time and require higher drone frequencies and further optimization of the service [ 25 ]. However, we based our flight times on a drone speed of 60 km/h, and future drones may be able to fly considerably quicker [ 26 , 27 ], suggesting that potentially longer flight distances may be realistic in the future.…”

“…It depicts a discriminative correlation filter-based tracker with illumination adaptive and anti-dark capability. Reference [22] reported a considerable progress in the development of highly manoeuvrable drones for applications like monitoring and aerial mapping. The challenging parts are real-time response, workload management, and complex control.…”

“…The recent development in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) control systems has led to their extensive application in search and rescue, sensor networks in the Internet of Things (IoT), remote sensing surveillance, inspection, and etc [1], [2]. The autonomous delivery solutions with heterogeneous mobile robot teams are extensively investigated by delivery companies such as Amazon Technologies Inc., which presented concepts of multi-robotic ground delivery [3] and fulfillment center with UAV delivery [4].…”
