A Review on Chemical and Mechanical Properties of Natural Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites

Abstract: This review paper examines the chemical and mechanical properties of natural fiber reinforced polymer bonded composites and the processing techniques are compared for the reinforced composite materials. The chemical and mechanical properties of the different natural fibers composites were compared. Present days natural fibers are attracting many scholars and researchers due to its cost and largely available in nature also processing of these fibers is not hard in comparison to the conventional fiber's producti… Show more

“…Thompson [8] produced a hair-based composite material by controlling a majority of trim lengths of hair to shape a web or tangle of hair, and consolidating said web or tangle of hair with an auxiliary added substance to frame said composite material. Jain et al [9] examined on hair fiber fortified concrete and presumed that there is colossal augmentation in properties of cement as per the rates of hairs by weight of in concrete.…”

“…The NF based composites have seen increased popularity in the past few years with a dramatic increase in the composite market due to their environment friendly attributes [3]. Considering the fact that the disposal and recycling process of synthetic fibres such as GF and CF reinforced polymer composites could result in environmental concerns, NF could offer solutions for these issues, thanks to their recyclability, biodegradability and renewability [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. In addition, they are abundant and cost-effective reinforcing materials with attractive properties, such as low density, high specific strength to stiffness ratio, high toughness, low energy utilisation during the fabrication process, low abrasiveness, and neutrality to CO 2 [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10].…”
