A review of various components of solar water‐pumping system: Configuration, characteristics, and performance

Abstract: Burning fossil fuel like coal, diesel, and so on, for electricity generation is environmentally hazardous and cause increased CO 2 emissions worldwide. To meet the ever-growing energy demand, solar energy remains top and considered to be most promising one that grabbed global attention recently, especially, in the areas of rural electrification and water pumping. Moreover, the solar photovoltaic (PV) system is advantageous and highly preferred. Thus, this paper attempts to review various components of solar-po… Show more

“…Tanks can also be used for water storage rather than batteries for power storage. 12 Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels immediately convert sunlight into useable electrical energy, which may then be used to power a water pump directly or via an inverter. Solar PV water pumps are made up of many components that can be classified as mechanical, electrical, or electronic.…”

“…In the agricultural sector, the water irrigation pump is the dominant electrical demand [21]. In the open-air farms, the solar-based irrigation system can be operated to meet the crops' needs when the peak demand of the power system coincides with the peak crop evapotranspiration [22]. In the greenhouse farms, the operation of the cooling and heating system exhibits great flexibility potential [23].…”
