A review of the use of SrO in catalysts for biodiesel production

J. Andrés Tavizón‐Pozos,
Zita G. Cruz‐Aburto

Abstract: SrO has attracted attention for its use as a heterogeneous catalyst in producing biodiesel from transesterification owing to its high alkaline character and low solubility in methanol. In studies conducted in this decade, reaction conditions such as the methanol–oil molar ratio, reaction time, catalyst loading and temperature have been optimized in these systems. Furthermore, several works have been carried out to improve the physicochemical properties and increase the leaching resistance of this material. Thu… Show more

“…According to Tavizón-Pozos et al, SrO has gained interest as a catalyst for producing biodiesel through transesterification due to its strong alkaline properties and low solubility in methanol, making it a promising heterogeneous catalyst in this application. [32] In another study on transesterification catalysis, Ngaosuwan et al highlighted the significance of La 2 O 3 's basicity. They mentioned that a small amount of La loading through physical mixing, combined with the presence of specific crystal phases, resulted in a synergistic effect that boosted total basicity and surface area.…”
