Over the last decade, the progressive application of natural fibres in polymer composites has had a major effect in alleviating environmental impacts. Recently, there is a growing interest in the development of green materials in a woven form by utilising natural fibres from lignocellulosic materials for many applications such as structural, non-structural composites, household utilities, automobile parts, aerospace components, flooring, and ballistic materials. Woven materials are one of the most promising materials for substituting or hybridising with synthetic polymeric materials in the production of natural fibre polymer composites (NFPCs). These woven materials are flexible, able to be tailored to the specific needs and have better mechanical properties due to their weaving structures. Seeing that the potential advantages of woven materials in the fabrication of NFPC, this paper presents a detailed review of studies related to woven materials. A variety of factors that influence the properties of the resultant woven NFRC such as yarn characteristics, fabric properties as well as manufacturing parameters were discussed. Past and current research efforts on the development of woven NFPCs from various polymer matrices including polypropylene, polylactic acid, epoxy and polyester and the properties of the resultant composites were also compiled. Last but not least, the applications, challenges, and prospects in the field also were highlighted.

A multi-way control system for spun yarn breakage detecting and tow stopping is presented for linen wet spinning frame upgrade in medium-sized businesses of southeastern China. The signals from periodic rotations of spun yarns are picked by piezoelectric sensors. After input protection and multiplexers, the weak voltage signal from gated channel is processed through links including voltage following, passive high-pass filter, active low-pass filter, in-phase and reversedphase proportional amplifying, precision full-wave rectification, retardation voltage comparison, etc.. After regulated at a zener diode link, the final electrical level is sent to LPC2132 processor which gives trigger signals to actuators when yarn breakage is detected. In the corresponding actuator channel, armature of electromagnet will be pushed off to stop tow feed and the red LED will be lightened to warn spinner. Circuit board units for signal amplifying, conditioning and actuator driving were designed for controlling 24 yarn channels simultaneously. The simulation result and field test verified the circuit accuracy and programmed effectiveness.

Traditional ring spinning system is associated with the several limitations, one of which is yarn hairiness. The awareness has been vibrantly growing among the spinning mills for reducing staple yarn hairiness because of its detrimental effects on the subsequent processes (i.e., weaving, knitting, dyeing etc.) and the quality of resultant textile products. As a result, modified form of ring frame has attracted a lot of attention among the researchers for making yarn with the lower level of hairiness value. Besides the raw material parameters and some processing variables, spinning triangle (ST) is the most critical region that has decisive influence on the distribution of fiber tensions and their spatial orientations and shapes in staple yarn body. Thus, using appropriate methods to control the spinning triangle geometry actively has been a vital issue in the field of yarn hairiness reduction. In this paper, it is attempted to make an overview on the spinning triangle based modifications of ring frame that have been designed and destined to reduce hairiness. However, agent aided ring spinning system has also been briefly discussed in this paper as well.
