Incorrect sitting posture, characterized by asymmetrical or uneven positioning of the body, often leads to spinal misalignment and muscle tone imbalance. The prolonged maintenance of such postures can adversely impact well-being and contribute to the development of spinal deformities and musculoskeletal disorders. In response, smart sensing chairs equipped with cutting-edge sensor technologies have been introduced as a viable solution for the real-time detection, classification, and monitoring of sitting postures, aiming to mitigate the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and promote overall health. This comprehensive literature review evaluates the current body of research on smart sensing chairs, with a specific focus on the strategies used for posture detection and classification and the effectiveness of different sensor technologies. A meticulous search across MDPI, IEEE, Google Scholar, Scopus, and PubMed databases yielded 39 pertinent studies that utilized non-invasive methods for posture monitoring. The analysis revealed that Force Sensing Resistors (FSRs) are the predominant sensors utilized for posture detection, whereas Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) are the leading machine learning models for posture classification. However, it was observed that CNNs and ANNs do not outperform traditional statistical models in terms of classification accuracy due to the constrained size and lack of diversity within training datasets. These datasets often fail to comprehensively represent the array of human body shapes and musculoskeletal configurations. Moreover, this review identifies a significant gap in the evaluation of user feedback mechanisms, essential for alerting users to their sitting posture and facilitating corrective adjustments.

Cutting-edge technologies have been widely employed in healthcare delivery, resulting in transformative advances and promising enhanced patient care, operational efficiency, and resource usage. However, the proliferation of networked devices and data-driven systems has created new cybersecurity threats that jeopardize the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of critical healthcare data. This review paper offers a comprehensive evaluation of the current state of cybersecurity in the context of smart healthcare, presenting a structured taxonomy of its existing cyber threats, mechanisms and essential roles. This study explored cybersecurity and smart healthcare systems (SHSs). It identified and discussed the most pressing cyber threats and attacks that SHSs face, including fake base stations, medjacking, and Sybil attacks. This study examined the security measures deployed to combat cyber threats and attacks in SHSs. These measures include cryptographic-based techniques, digital watermarking, digital steganography, and many others. Patient data protection, the prevention of data breaches, and the maintenance of SHS integrity and availability are some of the roles of cybersecurity in ensuring sustainable smart healthcare. The long-term viability of smart healthcare depends on the constant assessment of cyber risks that harm healthcare providers, patients, and professionals. This review aims to inform policymakers, healthcare practitioners, and technology stakeholders about the critical imperatives and best practices for fostering a secure and resilient smart healthcare ecosystem by synthesizing insights from multidisciplinary perspectives, such as cybersecurity, healthcare management, and sustainability research. Understanding the most recent cybersecurity measures is critical for controlling escalating cyber threats and attacks on SHSs and networks and encouraging intelligent healthcare delivery.

La presente investigación aborda la problemática existente en la obtención de parámetros de signos vitales en el sistema de salud en el Ecuador. La inaccesibilidad a estos datos debido a los elevados costos de exámenes de signos vitales genera una urgencia clínica. Instituciones educativas, como el Instituto Superior Tecnológico Luis Tello en la provincia de Esmeraldas, enfrentan demoras y dificultades al realizar la toma manual de signos vitales, almacenando la información de manera escrita o en hojas de cálculo, como Excel. Con el propósito de superar estas limitaciones, este artículo se centra en la propuesta de diseñar un sistema de monitoreo automatizado que garantice acceso remoto y captura eficiente de la información. Se emplearon enfoques tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos en esta investigación. Las pruebas de usuario se llevaron a cabo para recabar opiniones sobre la interfaz propuesta, mientras que un método comparativo evaluó la efectividad de la propuesta frente a equipos existentes en el mercado, la fase de información transmite los datos obtenidos de los sensores a la plataforma de IoT ThingSpeak y en paralelo en un conexión de área local a través de la plataforma VNC viewer para tener doble comunicación en caso de que los servidores de ThingSpeak fallen, aunque el sistema propuesto puede determinar parámetros básicos como la frecuencia cardíaca, temperatura y electrocardiograma (ECG), no es adecuado para brindar un análisis médico definitivo, pero ayuda para obtener datos básicos dentro de entornos educativos como el Instituto Superior Tecnológico Luis Tello en la provincia de Esmeraldas, Ecuador.
