“…40Y42 In the present review, the incidence of LLL in 2 studies was approximately 70%, which was substantially higher than that in the results of previous studies reporting LLL rates between 14% and 48%. 42 It is well known that the incidence of LLL is higher when subjectively assessed using PROMs as compared with using data obtained from medical records. 43 The present review suggests that LLL has a significant negative impact on the QoL after treatment of VC and that LLL may be associated with sexual life disruption, lower physical functioning, and decrease in social activities.…”

“…Previous radiation and a rotational flap rather than advancement flap were found to be risk factors for complications. 42 In a review of the literature by Wills et al, 9 only 9 articles were identified from 1965 to 2012 that assessed complications arising from vulvar surgery for vulvar cancer. Regarding wound complications, they reported a 9% to 58% rate among all 9 studies, citing obesity, tumor size and location, age, diabetes, smoking, and prior radiation as risk factors for wound breakdown.…”

“…5Y8 Historically, vulvar resection has been associated with significant postoperative complications, morbidity, and decreased quality of life. 9 Although the resulting defect can often be closed primarily, large tumors, repeat operations, and previous radiation treatment may limit the surgeon's ability to effect primary closure. Avariety of surgical methods have been developed over the years in an attempt to decrease operative morbidity associated with vulvar excision.…”

“…Lymphedema is a well-established adverse outcome of IFL, affecting 14% to 48% of women undergoing the procedure, especially when en bloc dissection occurs. 18 The GROINSS-V-1 study has reported the safety of SLNBVhence limited groin dissectionVin selected VC patients reducing the LLL rate by 10-fold. 4 While our results clearly indicate the benefit of SV preservation in support of the earlier findings, the magnitude of this may be less than commonly presumed, given that the criteria for assessment of ''leg swelling'' are not unanimously reported.…”
