A review energy-efficient task scheduling algorithms in cloud computing

Abstract: Cloud computing is a model for delivering information technology services, wherein resources are retrieved from the Internet through web-based tools and applications instead of a direct connection to a server. The capability to provision and release cloud computing resources with minimal management effort or service provider interaction led to the rapid increase of the use of cloud computing. Therefore, balancing cloud computing resources to provide better performance and services to end users is important. Lo… Show more

“…Makespan and cost respectively refer to the total execution time needed for task implementation [64,65] and the cost of implementing tasks on particular VMs. Task length, data transfer cost, and storage are determinants of [34,65]. Cloud service providers benefit from expansion of resource utilization, so permitting customers to rent resources of restricted availability ensures full use of resources and hence profit maximization [34,66].…”

“…• Most of the existing task schedulers doesn't consider the task's requirements, e.g., number of tasks and the task's priority, and some of them consider only the waiting time and response time reduction. [3] In this paper, we introduce a hybrid task scheduling algorithm that utilizes the shortest job first (SJF) and round-robin (RR) algorithms. The hybrid task scheduling algorithm comprises two major stages.…”

“…Job scheduling, one of the most popular improvement issues, plays a key role in improving flexible and reliable systems. The main purpose is to establish a schedule of posts on adaptable resources according to adaptable time, which includes the identification of an appropriate sequence in which functions can be implemented within the framework of transaction logic constraints [3].…”

“…To design a market that captures realistic behavior, constraints, and operational logic of DaCes, it is important to understand how scheduling decisions are made in daily DaCe operations. Various energy-aware, online scheduling models have been proposed for DaCes [21]. Eco-aware (sustainability driven) scheduling algorithms have also been proposed [22], [23], [24].…”
