“…Some carcinosarcomas of the uterine cervix may be of mesonephric origin. 31 Before making a diagnosis of a primary carcinosarcoma of the cervix, spread from a uterine corpus primary should be excluded. Carcinosarcoma of the cervix with a squamous element should be distinguished from squamous carcinoma with a spindle cell component (spindle cell squamous carcinoma).…”

“…21 In this assay, the HPV PCR product is hybridized to the genotype-specific probes immobilized as parallel lines on a nitrocellulose strip. Twenty-five individual HPV genotypes (HPV 6,11,16,18,31,33,34,35,39,40,42,43,44,45, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68, 70, and 74) can be identified simultaneously in a single assay. The hybridization and the color reaction, which results in a purple precipitate, were performed automatically in an AutoLiPA device.…”

“…However, based on the morphological features and immunophenotype, they believe these tumors to represent MA. When taking into consideration the description by McFarland et al, it is reasonable to believe that MA can originate in the uterine corpus in two ways: 1) direct development from the mesonephric remnants of the corpus wall and 2) mesonephric differentiation of a Müllerian adenocarcinoma originating from the endometrium, as proposed by McFarland et al MA typically exhibits a variety of architectural growth patterns, even within the same tumor [13]. Although this admixture of growth patterns is a somewhat characteristic feature and can be useful for diagnosis, it may also result in diagnostic issues and mimicry of other neoplasms.…”

“…Few cases of MA have been reported in the uterine corpus [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. A unique histologic pattern of uniform small tubules containing intraluminal hyaline material is reminiscent of mesonephric remnants [13]. The remnants are sometimes found within the lateral wall of the cervix, mesoovaries, or broad ligaments.…”
