A Reliable Separation Algorithm of ADS-B Signal Based on Time Domain

Abstract: With the development of Aerospace Science and technology, automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast has become a core technique in the field of air surveillance. Installing ADS-B receiver on LEO satellite can solve the problem of small coverage of ground receiver, to realize global coverage and monitoring. However, the satellite ADS-B system is faced with serious collision and overlap problems, which has a serious impact on the signal decoding, leading to the wrong decoding or even loss of important informati… Show more

“…However, the weak signal cannot be recovered when the input SNR of the overlapping signal is low or the power difference between the two signals is large. Li et al Li et al (2021) proposed a blind separation algorithm based on time domain. Firstly, the amplitude of the first and last signals is estimated as the threshold, and then two signals were obtained by differentiating with the overlapping signals.…”

“…Depending on algorithm principle, traditional separation methods can be classified into three categories for single antenna-based ADS-B signal separation. For the first approach Wu et al (2017); Yu et al (2018); Li et al (2021), the power difference between overlapping signals is used to separate ADS-B signals. However, this approach is limited to small power difference between overlapping signals.…”

“…The source signal is recovered by obtaining different bit decision results based on the amplitude and the superposition of different pulses. Based on simulation results, the proposed algorithm has a low BER and is feasible [19]. Yu, S. et al introduced a digital beamforming system with automatic calibration for receiving automatic surveillance broadcasts, or ADS-B signals, on satellites.…”
