Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to provide the underlying constructs that connect the operational and financial performance of firms with the competitive environment surrounding the brewing industry in Europe. Design/methodology:The selected method of study is exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, and subsequently applying structural equations modelling. We have sampled 214 brewing companies distributed in over 12 European economies. Findings:The study provides a comparison between different antecent studies, including contextual contrast in both an industry and a methodologic perspective. The study shoes that the competitive construct of the industry is significantly related with the financial performance of firms, however not necesarilly to the operational results. Additionally, the operational structure of the firm does not necesarilly provide significant relationship to the firms' financial results. Research limitations/implications:The research is segmented within the European brewing industry, hence we find potentian geographic delimiations in terms of the conclusions of this paper.Originality/value: Significant relationships between competitive variables and financial performance in the brewing industry remains evasive in research thus far. Additionally, sustained in the potential the brewing industry represents within Europe, it is significant to identify these relationships for readers on both an academic and industrial background.

Abstract:Purpose: To describe the factors that facilitate the adoption of e-business in firms. To go in deep on the factors, resources and capabilities that need to be present in those firms seeking to improve their levels of e-business adoption.Design/methodology/approach: Analysis of the literature involving the main theories on business administration, and more specifically, on those related to technology innovation (TI) and information systems (IS), as applicable to the organizational factors that explain the adoption of e-business.Findings: It identifies three main sources of influence: a first group covers the characteristics of the actual firm, which refer to the organisation's specific features: firm size, the backing of top management, expected benefit, age, the level of human capital, and international projection. A second group of factors includes technology-related characteristics. The third group contains all those aspects in the environment that may affect the firm's attitude to e-business. Research limitations/implications:The chosen variables play significant role following a review of the studies on the subject, but not all potential ones have been included. Abstract. Internet has changed the way retailers do their business. They have gone electronic and are now termed as eretailers. These e retailers face huge competition in securing their loyal customer base. In our study, we suggest that if eretailers provide good information and system quality to their consumers and in turn show agility to resolve their issues, eretailers may develop loyal customers. In our study, we propose a model to provide understanding of this process by studying the antecedents and consequences of eretailers' agility. Partial least squares were used for testing the proposed relationships. The empirical findings based on 222 completed responses suggest that information quality and system quality of eretailer website can be a factor in consumers perceiving eretailers to be agile. Also, this results in customer loyalty.
