A Real-Time Implementation of Moving Object Action Recognition System Based on Motion Analysis

Abstract: This paper proposes a PixelStreams-based FPGA implementation of a real-time system that can detect and recognize human activity using Handel-C. In the first part of our work, we propose a GUI programmed using Visual C++ to facilitate the implementation for novice users. Using this GUI, the user can program/erase the FPGA or change the parameters of different algorithms and filters. The second part of this work details the hardware implementation of a real-time video surveillance system on an FPGA, including al… Show more

“…A smart video surveillance system has three major stages: detection, classification, and activity recognition [14]. Happening of abnormal events in public places is budding at an extraordinary rate, from closed-circuit security systems to contemporary systems that can monitor individuals at airports, subways, concerts, sporting events etc., to network of cameras covering vital locations within a city.…”

“…Compression of the captured video has received significant interest in literature. The availability of high-resolution CMOS image sensors at low cost makes the WVSNs more trending [1], especially for real-time surveillance and environment monitoring [2,3] and medical applications [4], etc. The new applications of WVSN are emerging very rapidly and demanding efficient pre-processing and transmission [5].…”
