A Real-Time Computation Model of the Electromagnetic Force and Torque for a Maglev Planar Motor with the Concentric Winding

Abstract: Abstract:The traditional model of the electromagnetic force and torque does not take the coil corners into account, which is the major cause for the motor fluctuation. To reduce the fluctuation, a more accurate real-time computation model, which considers the influence of the coil corners, is proposed in this paper. Three coordinate systems respectively for the stator, the mover, and the corner are established. The first harmonic of the magnetic flux density distribution of a Halbach magnet array is taken into… Show more

“…It shows great advantages in modelling time, real-time calculation cost and the model accuracy. Jansen et al [3,9,14], Kou et al [5,15], Peng et al [16] and Liu and co-workers [17] investigated the SAMs of rectangular-shaped coils. Liu et al [18] derived the wrench model of circular-shaped coils with SAM.…”

“…The magnetic field analysis of the linear motor can be done under several hypotheses, such as the neglection of the end effects and the magnetic field saturation, etc. [22,25]. In Figure 1, the magnetic flux density B can be decomposed in the x and z directions as follows [26]:…”

“…No matter how MLPM are configured, they can all be classified as permanent magnet synchronous motors. For these permanent magnet synchronous motors, either planar or rotary, the commutation configured, the magnetic field distribution cannot be changed; thus, the regulation of coil or winding currents, i.e., the commutation becomes the only alternative to control these motors [7,9,10]. These coils or windings have to be commutated to provide adequate energy for six degrees of freedom (DOF) movements in three-dimension Euclidean space [11].…”
