Abstract:Summary:
The encephalocele is a malformation that is manifested by the protrusion of brain tissue through a defect in the skull. The meningoencephalocele contains the meninges and brain tissue. Frontoethmoidal or nasal meningoencephalocele is rare; the frequency is approximately one in 40,000 live births. Three subtypes are currently known: nasoethmoid, nasofrontal, and nasoorbital.
