A rare case of multiple leiomyomas on rudimentary uterus in a woman with Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser (MRKH) syndrome: A challenging diagnosis and laparoscopic approach

Abstract: Highlights Fibroid in MRKH is a rare and benign tumor that arises from remnant of uterus. Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a congenital disorder involving reproductive, genitourinary, bone, and cardiac malformation. Diagnosis is usually made in adolescent when they did not have menstrual period (primary amenorrhea).

“…In our case, the surgery was performed laparoscopically, which is a common approach for surgical excision and confirmation of diagnosis [6] . Laparotomy is an available option when surgical experience with laparoscopy is limited and/or if malignancy is suspected [13] , [14] , [15] . Though we are presenting a case report that has its own limitations, we believe that our case is one of very few cases of obliterated rudimentary horn that contains extensive adenomyosis, more cases and papers would benefit better understanding of this complex pathology.…”
