A Rapid Synthesis of Mesoporous Mn2O3 Nanoparticles for Supercapacitor Applications

Abstract: Mn2O3 nanomaterials have been recently composing a variety of electrochemical systems like fuel cells, supercapacitors, etc., due to their high specific capacitance, low cost, abundance and environmentally benign nature. In this work, mesoporous Mn2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by manganese acetate, citric acid and sodium hydroxide through a hydrothermal process at 150 °C for 3 h. The synthesized mesoporous Mn2O3 NPs were thoroughly characterized in terms of their morphology, surfaces, as well as the… Show more

“…It is observed in the present work that spin–orbit splitting (11.8 eV) is nearly the same value as reported for the energy difference between Mn 2p 3/2 and Mn 2p 1/2 of Mn 2 O 3 (the chemical oxidation state of Mn is 3+). 34,35 Furthermore, the asymmetric contours at a binding energy value of 530.1 eV in the O 1s high-resolution spectrum (Fig. 3d) is a characteristic feature of O 2− in the lattice of the metal oxides.…”

“…A facile hydrothermal process was also used by Son et al [9] in order this time to synthesize well-crystalline mesoporous Mn 2 O 3 materials for the fabrication of a pseudocapacitor. These materials exhibited a high surface area and uniformity of unique mesoporous particle morphology, generating many active sites, a fast-ionic transport and enhanced capacitive properties.…”
