A Rapid Color Test for Detection of Ethchlorvynol (PlacidylR) in whole Hemolyzed Blood

Abstract: A simple, rapid, inexpensive, and reliable method to presumptively screen for the presence of ethchlorvynol is proposed. The color test is based on the reaction of ethchlorvynol and diphenylamine in the presence of acid. The method is sensitive to low therapeutic concentrations in blood. Only 200 I-tL of a methanolic extract of blood, serum or plasma is required. The test can be performed semi-quantitatively and completed within 15 minutes.
