A range based node localization scheme with hybrid optimization for underwater wireless sensor network

Abstract: A great interest among researchers to establish Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSN) with mobile nodes have been created in recent past because of numerous potential applications in aquatic science. In comparison of radio communication, acoustic communication has lower bandwidth and larger propagation delay. This enacts additional restrictions on any localization algorithm. Existing range-based approaches involve increased localization latency and error even with large deployment of anchor nodes. Some of… Show more

“…Once the node is dead, the next node gets active for further communication by sharing the beacon frame. There are many localization algorithms available in various surveys [32] [34]. For example, the hierarchical localization technique [41] is suitable for the underwater coral farming application, shown in Figure 4.…”

“…several evaluation metrics, such as energy consumption, expected transmission count, and congestion avoidance. Toward the localization problem of mobile sensor node under the influence of shipping movement, fishing movement, and tectonic plates movement, Nain et al 59 proposed a range‐based scheme to achieve the location latency reduction and accuracy with hybrid optimization technique for the underwater sensor networks. Seen from the above work, we know that the wireless sensor‐based communication systems confronted many influential factors, such as shipping/fishing/tectonic‐plates movement, energy‐shortage, and communication interruption.…”
