A quantitative index of the ion balance for precipitation chemistry

Abstract

An index is proposed for a quality assurance for ionic species content data of precipitation samples: h=(A-C)/C for C>A and (A-C)/A for C<A where C and A are the cation and anion sura in equivalent concentration. This index proved to describe the ion balance in a quantitative as well as qualitative manner. An applied result is presented for a set of 137 observations in Gumma.
