Abstract: Adipogenic differentiation is driven by a complex cascade of transcription factors (TFs) 1 and cell signaling molecules that lead to the expression of the master regulators CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein (C/EBP) (1) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) (2) family proteins. In a sequential process, C/EBP␦ and C/EBP␤ are initially induced and followed by C/EBP␣ and PPAR␥ expression.
