“…In fact, differently from impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), requiring the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) to be diagnosed, IFG may be easily identified with a simple FPG measurement. [ 48 , 49 ] However, to date, no study confirmed the predictive role of IFG in RA patients. Furthermore, we observed that a higher BMI, the presence of MetS, as well as a higher serum level of total cholesterol were significantly associated with IFG, confirming the well-known role of traditional CV risk factors in this context.…”

“…The cut-off value for the definition of impaired fasting glycaemia (IFG) is still controversial at present; the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Expert Committee reduced the cut-off value of IFG to 5.6 mmol/L in 2003, while the World Health Organization (WHO) retained the previous cut-off value of IFG (6.1 mmol/L) 19 . Further, IFG has been shown as an independent risk factor for hypertension 20 , 21 ; however, whether the FBG level begin to become a potential risk factor for hypertension when it is close to 5.6 mmol/L is uncertain. Fortunately, our study showed that the positive associations of BP with FBG became stronger when FBG levels were close to 5.6 mmol/L, which implied that FBG level might begin to become a potential risk factor for hypertension when it was close to 5.6 mmol/L.…”

“…While in women, the estimates were 3.8, 11.5, and 11.9 cases per 1000 population in the same age categories, respectively. [ 15 ] Vaidya et al [ 16 ] showed that incident diabetes rates in the Kailuan cohort were 10.4, 17.5, and 17.9 cases per 1000 population in men aged 18 to 44, 45 to 64, and 65+ years, and 3.6, 13.1, and 19.5 cases per 1000 population in women of the same age groups. These findings indicated that both males and females showed higher percentage of diabetes with ages increasing, and males showed higher percentage of diabetes compared with females in the same age groups.…”
