A Proposed Framework for Developing an Electronic Medical Record System

Abstract: The deployment of an electronic medical records (EMR) raises several important issues. Those addressed in this study are the access to such a system, the satisfaction on the security and authorization protocols to follow, the awareness of backup and recovery mechanisms in place, and the appreciation of the training of the IT staff. This qualitative study took place in the natural setting of the medical units' environments. A purposive sample of 40 professionals in Greece and Oman was used. The study underlines… Show more

“…The complexity of detecting and averting cyberattacks is growing as we move to a post-pandemic world that has normalized new organizational models, such as working from home. The complexity is exacerbated by the advent of technologies such as artificial intelligence (Akter et al ., 2021; Varsha et al ., 2021), the Internet of Things (Huang et al ., 2021; Peng et al ., 2021), blockchain ( Teoh, 2022) and other highly interoperable systems (Lee et al ., 2021; Xanthidis and Xanthidou, 2021). Not surprisingly, disruptions and shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic that revealed weaknesses in inter-organizational systems forced increased focus on the resilience of supply chains, resulting in a plethora of research on the topic (Tukamuhabwa et al ., 2015).…”

“…Patient surveys are a common method for determining patient satisfaction and their experiences within a healthcare system. The measures of interest are varied, but a commonality between them is the purpose of the surveys to measure patient satisfaction (Xanthidis & Xanthidou, 2021;Xia et al, 2020). Multiple instruments exist with a variety of different constructs in order to measure these factors (Davis et al, 1995;Ramsey et al, 1993).…”

“…Chen et al [23] proposed an electronic medical record system based on blockchain joint proxy re-encryption, which ensured the security of medical data access and realized fine-grained access to data through attribute-based access control. Xanthidis and Xanthidou [24] designed an error-correction code hash function and constructed a privacy-preserving anonymization algorithm, which to some extent controlled users' access rights and ensured the safe sharing of data between doctors and patients. Some scholars used VPN, SSL and other technologies to control access to medical data, so as to protect the security of medical data.…”
