Abstract:A 63-year-old man underwent transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) to rule out left atrial thrombi prior to cardioversion. Initial two-dimensional TEE with color flow Doppler imaging was suggestive of an atrial septal defect. However, three-dimensional TEE imaging revealed that the unusually large elongated Eustachian valve extended toward the superior vena cava and mimicked the interatrial septum, while the true septum was located more posteriorly than the Eustachian valve. Three-dimensional TEE imaging was c… Show more
The usefulness of three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography is discussed. The clinical fellowship program for echocardiography is also described.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
