A profile of abuse.

Abstract: SUMMARY Of 260 children considered to have been the victims of child abuse or neglect, or both, 149 suffered non-accidental injury, 71 had evidence of growth problems, 87 had developmental and speech delay, and 63 showed evidence of appreciable behaviour disturbance. “…Although foster care was the usual factor associated with catch-up, the occasional child did show significant change at home (case lo), usually due to the removal of an abusing member of the household (case 3 ) , though in the author's experience this is not accompanied by improvement in other developmental and behavioural parameters (14).
