A Preliminary Result of Air Quality Identification and Analysis of Pm10 and PM2.5 in Steel Industrial Area, Cilegon, Banten

Abstract: The increasingly rapid industrial development has produced pollutants in the form of gases and particles polluting the atmosphere. One of them is the steel industry where the majority of the air pollutants produced is particulate matter. Monitoring the air quality of particulate matter needs to be done routinely to identify and control the effects of air pollution somewhere. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) in the steel industry area in Cilegon, Indonesia… Show more

“…Moreover, there is also transportation activities for factory supporting goods, which produced dust from the traffic that could be one source of pollution. In a previous study, the same steel industry produced the highest PM2.5 concentrations, namely141.96 μg/m 3 at area of billet post [5]. Based on previous and this study, the PM2.5 concentrations were obtained more by reduction process and slab steel process than other activities in the steel industry.…”

“…Motor vehicle exhaust emissions become one of the contributors to air pollution, especially on the highway. Regular and periodic air quality monitoring must be done in order to identify and control the impact of air pollution in a place, especially the direct impact on the organisms [6]. Frequent monitoring and measuring the motor vehicle exhaust emissions regularly is an obligation for each vehicle owner and the government; hence, exhaust gas emissions remain in clean air.…”
