“…It is likely that an inadequate ovarian response, and suboptimal endometrial priming, is more specifically related to reduced endometrial receptivity than age alone. Advancing maternal age predisposes to an inadequate ovarian response to IVF stimulation (3, 23), but this inadequate response is not the prerogative of older patients (2,19). It thus follows that donor oocyte or embryo regimes cannot be used to enhance the endometrial receptivity of older patients unless a previous inadequate response to IVF treatment has been demonstrated.…”

“…51 The main factor affecting the outcome, is the age of the donor woman. 7,39,53,56,[58][59][60][61][62][63][64] Hence, if oocytes are donated by young women to older women, both embryo implantation and pregnancy rates are restored to normal levels in the recipients, irrespective of their age. Egg donation seems to be the most reliable option of the perimenopausal woman, since the cumulative birth rates after four treatment cycles is >80%.…”

“…The claim that a woman's age seriously affects the success rate of donor egg IVF is false. IVF has a very low success rate in itself (Corea and de Wit 1989); with the use of hormones to enrich a post-menopausal woman's uterus and the donation of oocytes to increase her chances of embryo implantation and gestation, her chances of live birth rival that of her younger counterpart (Sauer, Paulson, and Lobo 1990). Indeed, some IVF centers have had relatively successful results in achieving pregnancy among post-menopausal women.…”
