A Pre‐Release Algorithm With a Confidence Map for Estimating the Attenuation Coefficient for Liver Fat Quantification

Abstract: Objectives-To compare the estimates of attenuation coefficient (AC) for liver fat quantification between 2 Ultrasound systems and to evaluate the quality measure of a pre-released software.Methods-AC were obtained in 30 participants in this single-center IRBapproved, HIPAA compliant study. Images were obtained on the Philips Epiq Elite system using experimental software and the Canon Medical Systems Aplio i800 with released software. Five AC measurements were taken and the median and IQR/M were calculated. Reg… Show more

“…In site 2, AC measurements were performed with the Epiq7 US system (Philips Medical Systems, the Netherlands) using the C5‐2 convex transducer and the ATI‐Philips algorithm software version 9.0.5. Data of 30 consecutive individuals enrolled in a study performed to compare the Philips and Canon algorithms for ATI 8 were reviewed and 5 images with AC‐Philips at each depth using 1 and 3 cm ROI were measured and recorded. An additional 30 patients were studied using a 3 cm ROI at each depth providing 60 patients assessed with the AC‐Philips.…”

“…The CCC (95% CI) was 0.792 and Pearson’s r was 0.839, demonstrating a high agreement between the systems. Both had a mean IQR/M of <15%, although the scores were significantly different between the 2 systems [ 94 ].…”

“…The values measured by B-mode guided QUS from different vendors showed a strong correlation [77,104]. However, significant inter-platform variability were observed, making it difficult to interchangeably use the values measured on different US systems [105,106].…”
