Although teaching self-efficacy is associated with many benefits for teachers and students, little is known about how teachers develop a sense of efficacy in the early years of their careers. Drawing on survey (N = 179) and interview (N = 10) data, this study investigates the sources of self-efficacy in a national sample of teachers who participated in the Noyce program. All teachers completed an online survey that included both the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Instrument and open-ended items prompting them to reflect on the sources of their self-efficacy. Ten teachers participated in semi-structured follow-up interviews. Enactive mastery experiences were the most common source of self-efficacy identified by teachers, followed by social persuasions and vicarious experiences. Physiological and affective states were identified infrequently and more often related to negative experiences that lowered self-efficacy than to positive experiences. Beginning teachers identified more negative enactive experiences than either Novice (2–3 years experiences) or Career teachers. In interviews, teachers described how the sources combined or interacted to influence their self-efficacy. Findings contribute to better understandings of the sources of self-efficacy with implications for how best to support teachers at different stages of their careers.

Williams and Hodges (2005) stated five myths that soccer coaches held when organizing their athletes’ practice. However, their arguments were based, majorly, in laboratory studies which limit their validity. Here, we performed a systematic review to verify the validity of their claims and map the current scenario of how coaches can manipulate factors of practice (augmented information, focus of attention, demonstration, and practice schedule) to support learning and performance in soccer. The results, in terms of each category or the myths presented, are, in most cases, not unanimous and much more must be performed to support, or criticize, coaches’ practice. We provide an encompassing view that provides general ideas for practice and future research.

Individuals who struggle with low hope tend to experience difficulties in multiple dimensions, encompassing physical, psychological, and social aspects. Despite the development of hope concepts and interventions since the mid-1990s, there has been no specific research using video self-modeling (VSM) instruments to change an individual's aspirations. Therefore, this research aimed to analyze the effectiveness of VSM on the hope and daily activities of Indonesian youth. An experimental method with a multiple-baseline design was employed. As many as 5 participants from Indonesia were selected based on pre-screening hope scale scores, specifically those showing low domain points about activities associated with family, romantic, social, academic, work, or leisure time. The data were analyzed using visual inspection by comparing scores before and after VSM intervention. The results showed that all participants demonstrated an increase in the frequency of activities they preferred. It was also found that VSM can indirectly impact the improvement of hope. This technology can be an effective intervention to assist young individuals in achieving goals and enhancing their hope.
