“…[21] Figure 1-b shows the oxidation of glycerol in 1 M H 2 SO 4 on Pt and PtRu catalysts only as Pd and PdNi were not active in acid media for alcohol oxidation which was also been reported in the literature. [8][9][10][11]24] In contrast to Zhang et al [5] who reported that Pt had higher activity towards glycerol oxidation than Pd in alkaline media. A rapid decrease in oxidation current was seen from cycle 1 to 3 (see Figure SI-4) with no oxidation peak current at 3 rd cycle as can be seen from Figure 1-b.…”

“…It can be seen that GOR is more favorable with higher oxidation current density peaks (j p ) and lower onset potentials (OSPs, measured at 0.1 mA cm À 2 ) in alkaline media than in acidic media. [8][9][10][11]24] The lowest OSP of 284 mV vs RHE has been achieved by PtRu in alkaline media (see Table 1). While Pd-based catalyst showed favorably the highest j p for GOR followed by PdNi in alkaline media, it also showed undesirable higher OSPs than those using Pt-based catalysts (see Table 1) in agreement with reports in literature.…”
