A poly(pyrrole-Cobalt(II)deuteroporphyrin) electrode for the potentiometric determination of nitrite

Abstract: Abstract:The electrochemical properties of a new Co(II) deuteroporphyrin substituted by two electropolymerizable pyrrole groups has been investigated in organic solvent. This functionalization has allowed the preparation of the first example of a cobalt deuteroporphyrin film by oxidative electropolymerization. The resulting conducting polypyrrole film exhibits the regular electroactivity of cobalt deuteroporphyrin. Compared to conventional cobalt porphyrin electrochemistry, the replacement of porphyrin macrocy… Show more

“…Notwithstanding, one can detect some of the typical processes of synthetic metalloporphyrin and of the precursor 4; Table 2 shows the potential values for the oxidation and reduction peaks revealed in Figs 2 and 3. The assignment of the peaks was performed in agreement to previous studies involving the electrochemical characterization of synthetic metalloporphyrins [17,18]. It can be observed that both the porphyrin ring and the cobalt centre are still electrochemically active upon immobilization through the dithiolane functionalities.…”

“…e Unfortunately, most of the existing compounds do not fulfill all the four biomimetic criteria. For instance, metal porphyrins and hemin have less selectivity because the compounds can also mediate other biochemicals such as nitrite, catechol, and dopamine 10ac. Prussian blue analogues shows less stability in neutral pH 11ad.…”
