A Piezoelectric‐Driven Electrochromic/Electrofluorochromic Dual‐Modal Display Device

Abstract: Electrochromic (EC) reflective displays offer great advantages in delivering information and providing visual data, but are limited in dark environments. Reflective/emissive dual‐modal displays capable of electrochemically‐induced color and fluorescence change simultaneously are highly desirable, especially possessing rapid response speed as well as long‐term durability. Herein, an electroactive fluorescent ionic liquid based on triphenylamine and imidazole (EFIL‐TPA) has been synthesized for reflective/emissi… Show more

“…The differences in the principles and sought-after performance metrics of EC and EFC displays make it challenging to design high-performance dual-function materials. 29 Among those, triphenylamine (TPA) groups have broad applications in photoelectric devices as electron donor units. TPA is a propeller-shaped electron-donor small molecule with a nitrogen atom as its core.…”

“…As their optical properties are tunable under electrical stimulation, 1,2 electrochromic materials show considerable potential for smart windows 3–5 and non-emissive display devices. 6–9 To date, many electrochromic materials with outstanding properties have been designed and fabricated, playing a key role in advancing developments in the field of electrochromism. Electrochromic materials can be divided into inorganic, 10–12 organic, 13,14 and metal–organic materials.…”
